- HARDWARE SETUP
-
- This portion of the program is used to configure the PADS Program to operate
- in conjunction with the hardware that is on the computer. After you have
- installed the PADS Programs, you must perform a HARDWARE SETUP for each of
- the PADS Programs that have been installed.
-
- This portion of the program is also used to modify the current hardware set-
- tings after your initial installation. For example, you may change the type
- of printer that you are using, or change the COM port for the pen plotter.
-
- To select a PADS Program from the window, use the up and down arrow keys on
- the key pad to highlight the desired program, then press F1 to continue. In
- the windows that follow there will be a separate HARDWARE SETUP for each of
- the PADS Programs.
-
- NOTE: If you are operating the PADS Program on a network, the PADS Program
- you are installing must reside on the network server prior to performing a
- HARDWARE SETUP on the workstation. Consult the appropriate appendix of the
- PADS Reference Manual for additional information on installing and operating
- your PADS Programs on a network.
-
- The first window will prompt you for the disk drives where DOS is presently
- installed, and where the PADS Program presently resides. A confirmation of
- your selections will be required before you can continue.
-
- The next window will display the graphics drivers for the PADS Programs. You
- may select any of the graphics drivers from the list, provided that it is
- compatible with the graphics device being used with the PADS Program.
-
- The next two windows will display the available matrix, and laser printer
- drivers for the PADS Programs. You may select a printer driver from the
- list, provided that it is compatible with the printer being used with
- the PADS Program.
-
- The next window will display the pen plotter drivers for the PADS Programs.
- You may select a plotter driver from the list, provided that it is compat-
- ible with the pen plotter being used with the PADS Program.
-
- The next window will display the Photo-plotter output options for the PADS
- Programs. Both of the options will produce identical gerber files. The
- only difference between the two drivers is the default number of apertures,
- and the X and Y size of the plotter.
-
- The next window will display the output device status. This window is used
- to set the ON-line or OFF-Line status as well as the I/O Port assignment for
- each of the computer's output devices.
-
- The next window will display the current status of the PCB-LARGE option. If
- you have purchased the PCB-LARGE option, and your computer has the required
- hardware, you should install this option.
-
- The next window will display the current status of the error message redi-
- rection. To change the status of the redirect, respond accordingly.
-
- The last few windows will display the environment changes required to the
- CONFIG.SYS, and AUTOEXEC.BAT file for the PADS Program to operate correctly.
- To let the PINSTALL Program automatically update these files, respond
- accordingly. If you do not permit the PINSTALL Program to automatically up-
- date these files, it will be necessary to use a text editor to manually up-
- date these files before the PADS Program can be operated.
